This image appears to have been oversharpened. The way that the image is framed implies that the door is the intended subject, while the high saturation of the hats draws my attention over to the other side of the image. Placing the bird statues are so close to the edge of the frame with their gaze directed past the edge of the image creates visual tension which doesn't seem to benefit the photo overall.

If the door and wall are the intended subject, then cropping out the birds would make this a pleasing image which doesn't meet the challenge. If the birds' hats are the intended focal point then recomposing the image to make them more prominent (e.g. shooting from near the ground upward with the door in the background) would dramatically improve the image.

Far too busy and low in contrast. The burst of color in the statue's hats is comical, but is lost on the viewer with all the other 'stuff' going on here.

I like the subject and the direction you're taking with this. IMHO there is not enough emphasis on the ornaments to make them the focal point of the shot and create that contrast in colors. The drab, earthy background of that house would have made a nice contrast to the ornament if composed with the red in the foreground. Maybe at an angle and from a lower POV? Just my humble opinion, nice shot nonetheless

This is a cute shot. However, the colorful bit is too far off to the side and too small to have much or an impact. I think that if you had moved in closer to the statues, so that the hats filled more of the frame, and photographed it from another angle, it would have been much better.

Very cute and clever. One of those images that makes you smile which is really good stuff. If it suffers anywhere it is because you've had to crop the birds so close to the left hand edge which has messed up your best composition options. From this angle, I can see that if you'd added any more left margin, you'd have ended up with the house next door as a horrid distraction. The solution I think would have been to take 5 steps to the left which would have made the ivy as the background to the birds, the foreground tree would have nestled between the door and window and you would have had more cropping options. Easy to be wise after the fact huh :)

Subtle but effective

You've got good subject matter here but they are almost falling out of the picture. Maybe if you had tried another angle, so that they are more in the picture. As it is, they seem like an afterthought.
