Challenge: Free Study X (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Location: My House. UK
Date: Jan 11, 2006
Aperture: f10
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/5
Galleries: Macro, Floral

For this shot I used a 50mm 1.8 and three extension tubes to get so close to the flower. I like the way the pollen glows when lit by flash. USM and levels used for this shot.

I think red is one of the hardest colors to capture with a Canon. At least that's my personal experience. It saturates so quickly and I think you are running into a bit of that here. The composition is nice in an abstract sort of way. Perhaps a bit more context is needed. I think we sense pretty well it's a flower, but if we were pulled back a little more, our eye might accept it better. I'd have to see it though to judge.

Isn't it fascinating to look at what is within a flower. Nice little fairyland scene. If you used a tripod, maybe a bit more experimentation with depth of field would be fun to do.

The strong white lines seem to me to be over sharpening. If I'm wrong on this, please forgive me.

An awesome job here, I am getting so bored of the regular macro floral, this is lovely and appropriately titled.
