Hi Alan,
Greetings from the Critique Club!
My standard text :)
-------------------
I'm by no means expert in area of photography. My comments are purely based on my limited understanding of technology and art behind digital photography. Apart from doing detailed evaluation of your submission, my intent is to learn different styles of photography by critically evaluating selective submissions. I hope following comments of mine are helpful to you.
Composition :
-------------
Good composition and a funny picture to make anyone laugh. But as many other comments say - this could have been fit for wildlife challenge. I might think of my boss like this (and I do!) but I dont "fantasize" him (might have been different story if it was "her" ;)).
Rest said and done, this is great capture (if theme of challenge is ignored)
Camera Work :
---------------
Camera work is good. Image seems to be properly exposed. But a deeper DOF might have been helpful in keeping the beak in focus. Overall a decent photo ... technically.
Post-processing :
-----------------
Okay ...now this needed some serious work on contrast. The image seems to be little flat. Looking at difference between shades of foreground subject and almost even background, proper use of "curves" would have done wonders. Some sharpening and saturation "could" have helped. Also you do not seem to be using maximum possible size limit for the file. Bigger size is normally less jpeg compression and thus better quality.
Summary :
----------
Overall an above-average composition. I did not voted for this challenge but I would have also given something between 5-6 which is in line with average score. If this image is properly processed it can really be great "wildlife" picture. And off-course, shorter titles always have stronger impact!

The essence and the personality of the bird were captured very well, it almost seems as if the bird's thought were being portrayed on the screen. |

The focus on the bird makes it seem that the bird is looking you directly in the eyes. |

Sorry, but nothing about this image says "Fantasy" to me. I know we all have different visions of what fantasy is, but this doesn't really say fantasy, to me, in any form. I think I understand the concept of "fantasizing" about your boss being some kind of weird bird, but fantasizing, and fantasy, seem very different. |

it does look otherworldly. A face only a momma could love, but I like his barristers' wig. |

What a great bird! Makes me think of those powdered wigs that I've only seen in history books. I believe this fits the challenge - I would like to see it a little sharper - So I'm going to do that now! :) .... |
