 Shot in friends backyard who has about six hummingbirds wintering over (rare here) with holly tree for backdrop at 360 mm using SB-800 w/ Flash Extender.

Converted in RSP set at Auto white balance, Auto exposure, appearnace medium, sharpness off, slight curves adjsutment, vibrance +1, cropped about 50%.
In DIP 10 burn background edges slightly and USM at 75%. .3, 3
PSE3 to resize using bicubic sharper and save for web.

Thanks to all for the comments. As for the color shift I do not know how I did not noitce until after the challenge started. You are correct that it is shifted although not as much as you might expect. As for saturation it is pretty much as captured. Although I'm very happy with the finish I have to wonder how it would have done had I fine tuned the color balance instead of using auto.

In any case I'm happy with the shot and will post a few more later. (see outtakes thread) I have one that shows the beautiful red throat and crown.

Here is the shot with the proper white balance.

So very hard to catch these birds in focus. They move so fast. I love the colors. My only complaint is the branch below and in front of him with the two drops of water. I find it a bit distracting. But I still think this photo merits a 9.

What absolute surperb violet colors this little bird has.....I have added this to my top three as I just love the luster, and the rich colors of this little bird.....10 in my book.....

Photo is very sharp, I thought the colors were a little over saturated so I looked up the Anna's. I still think so, but I like the photo overall.
