The flash really spoils the mood of this shot. Maybe try putting something in front of your flash to soften it. |

The harsh lighting takes my eye everywhere else first rather than the flames. The fire itself looks great, though... nice and sharp. |

Beautiful fire, especially the colour and the texture of the flame. Your modle is overlit by the flash and it seems to have spoiled that soft glow that a fire gemerates. That light makes us feel warm and really relate to the pic.
A way around this is to bounce your flash off the ceiling or if you can set it manually, just let it use a weak 'fill'. I'm guessing that just the fire by itself ddin't throw enough |

The fire looks good, but flash took too much color out of picture. |
