I don't like the platform the doll is on.

she's so dainty

Nice lighting.

the ligthng is good, but it's a cold image because of the doll.

I like the shot, but think a darker/different color background would set the doll off better (I tried a rough edit to check). Of course, I don't know if you had a choice.

Well done, although not very interesting to me. 5 sjgleah

colors and textures work well here

Beautiful doll, and nice picture. Your lighting and focus is very good, and allows the viewer to see the details of her garment. The only thing I would change would be the background. The yellowish/tan/beige color doesn't provide enough contrast, I think. Maybe a greenish background (dark, not bright) would really bring out the greens in her garments, and allow the red to be really zippy.

using a black sheet as a background would have helped this photo.

Nice background texture, and good position of the doll.

What a nice feminie shot. Obviously a womens touch.
07/17/2002 06:30:00 PM
Perfect background selection for this shot.

Nice setup! The texture in the back contrasts the dolls garments so well...

good choice of background for this subject. Nice lighting.

nice. i think it would've been really good if you got your hands on a bonsai tree and had that in the background. the wall behind the doll is really boring.

use a less textured background that would seamelessly merge into the base to great better photographs of still life like this one. :)

Very nice lighting and detail.
07/16/2002 09:04:00 PM
nice detail

A good shot but lacks interest to a wide audience.

Good composition with decent lighting and clear focus. The background texture is a bit deep and the color doesn't contrast quite as well as one might like.
I've said this before and will probably get blasted for it, but it isn't meant as a personal slam at all. Generally it is considered "recycled art" to photograph the artwork of someone else unless the photograph itself has an unusually artistic quality that goes beyond an accurate recording of the original art piece. I lean toward this line of thinking and as such, give high marks for the quality of the image, but low marks for creative artistry.

This is a well composed image... I would have preferred to see this on a dark background that would offer some stronger contrast for the doll... good shot :) = 6 - jmsetzler

The shot is pretty boring -- I'd at least have gone for a better background.
07/15/2002 09:41:00 PM
Nice shot... I think the wall as the background actually works fairly well here.

Very good product type shot. Good control of exposure and depth of field. Excellent color.

framing seems off slightly. Nice and clear. 7

Still life. <g> I like this and the colors are very nice. Kee

Lovely shot/composition. You might want to take this up in the forums, but to me, this is a shot of an art piece without any addition/subtraction/alteration from your shot. Please share half your score with the doll maker. 7 Swash

Nice crisp shot, but I think it would benefit from better framing and a different background.
07/15/2002 12:38:00 PM
Looks a bit yellow. Try using the cameras colour balance, or fiddling with the balance in Photoshop/Gimp/Whatever. Maybe a plain white background (sheet of paper) would have helped.
07/15/2002 11:10:00 AM
Could have done with a more interesting or just less sharply focused background.
07/15/2002 08:24:00 AM
I like it. Nice and simple.
