This is great! Can't believe it didn't do better with voters. I love funky - I instantly think Warhol era. One of my favorites of your shots. |

Well, I have been asked to comment on my photo.
The "Why" behind the photo is simple. The answer is "why not". It seems in photography the audience tends to ask "Why" a lot more than in painting or sculpture or other "non-tech" art. I find this both curious and frustrating.
Some ideas that got me going on these elements combined. I hate the typical model shot. The nubile 14 year old pretending to be 21 with the hair blowing, the airbrushed features, the perfect ligting to show off the countour of her saline enhanced, pouting lips. All so we will buy a new car or new cologne.
I wanted an anti-fashion shot. Raw eggs are considered powerful icons in the advertising world, both negative and positive. I had seen the plexigalss trick so many times in the 20 years of my advertising work I never really bothered to think that people might get confused by the illusion.
The sunglasses were a simple nod to the 1970's which was considered to be one of the "funkiest" fashion periods of our recent time. My memory of the 1970's was heavily, HEAVILY influenced by Laugh-in Plus they added some color to the shot. The feathers seemed to be a natural addition to the eggs.
I saw the pale lighting, obviously. I am very experienced at photoshop and could do any thing I wanted with the light. The washed out looked went with my anti-fashion theme.
Finally the "Title". Well, it's pretty obvious. You say the tilte "Funken' Egg" quickly enough you get an "impression" for something else :-) If you can't have fun here whats the point :-) |

can't believe this rated so low!! even more unbelievable is the amount of '1's!!! |

Way under-rated, but you have love all the different comments :) I liked the weirdness and the way you composd the picture. The only reason I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 is because the overall image is a little to pale for my taste.

Originality gets you a lot of points with me. I wish the image were more saturated and pop-art feeling, rather than heavenly sex feeling. If that makes sense. |

Neat shot! Done on a mirror? Egg has great color but face a little too light for me. Well framed with the feather and lovely hair. Don't much care for the title. You will likely get some 1's because of it, or maybe I don't know what a funken is. I like it alot--------10 |

Its a nice picture, but after Ive worked out how it was done it just leaves me thinking 'so what'. Maybe the subject could try looking zanier; wide eyed, mad hair and a big grin. |

good coloring, catchy, but why is her face all broken up? If you could fix that up it would be a great pic. Now it seems unfinished. |

Hmmmmmm. That is interesting. Definitely not your typical subject matter. One suggestion -- since it is cropped to the right, maybe if the feather things went all the way up the head it would fill more balanced, at least to me. karmat |

absolutey crazed, i do say! you might try pumping the contrast to make the blacks blacker and the image a bit more punchy. |

Just when you thought that you had seen it all, then comes the egg trick. Thanks for adding such humor to the challenge. |

surreal. It is a cool effect, but I don't know that I get the point of it. Chicken feathers, eggs and a person ? |

i was one of those people that had a problem opening up thumbnails to vote today and i was just itching to see this one in detail. what a great idea! well implemented, too. would've been good for transparency, too. i'm wondering what this would look like w/out the egg white and the little airbubbles? just a tad more puzzeling i guess. -- gr8photos (8) |

Where was this for "Transparency"?! :-) I don't get it, but it's still marvelous. |

I see, funky! Wierd how the white distorts her face/lips/nose. Feathers a good touch, too. Bizarre, creative idea. 8 Swash |
