Thanks for all the comments on this. To clear a couple of things up. The hazy area in top left is not glass - it's part of a chain link fence. I was shooting the foxes from a distance at F5.6 but this one was pretty close to me so I had to stop down to F13 to get eyes and nose sharp and this caused a ghost from the fence. I have others without the ghosting but preferred the composition of this one. Yellow flower was there on purpose as I thought the colours were a bit too dull without it. It's also out of focus on purpose as I thought a sharp bright yellow flower would be too much. Having said that, looking at it a week on I afree it's a bit too distracting.
Patella, not sure what the green tinit is. I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it but I've checked it on 2 monitors and you're right!
BTW, Nikkor 80 - 400 VR lens is awesome! Focal length was probably about 150mm equivalent, shutter was 1/20 and it's pretty sharp! |

great shot. the somewhat hazy top left (what is that?) and the flower in the bottom left are a tad distracting, but that is more than made up for by the crispness of the fox. my top 10 this week -- gr8photos (9) |

Nicely timed catch. Good focus, nicely cropped. I'm guessing you were shooting behind glass at a zoo -- I see some of the same problems I have when I've shot similar pics in the zoo. The green tint to everything (should be relatively easy to clean up in an image editing program) and the ghosting up in the upper left corner (reflection off the glass from behind -- not so easy to fix). Course I may be wrong. I'd liek to see that green tint taken out -- and I think I would have cropped it a little closer to get rid of what looks like the bottom edge of the window along the bottom of the shot. |

Great capture of the face! The yellow flowers on the left are a bit much, as they seem to jump out at ya. Good job. |

This would make a fantastic cover for a book or in a book about them, I'm not quite sold on his eyes, but great job with DOF, coloring, lighting - great job. 9 cthenk |

Wildlife is always hard, it doesnt pose, it doesnt like lights, it runs away when you try and get a different angle. All you can really do to improve on this shot is get luckier, which requires practice. Theres some fogging in the top left, which may be from sitting in a damp field for too long. Get a lens cloth and use it regularly. |

Good portions and angle of this fox which makes this guy look harmless. I understand how difficult it can be to get such an excellent shot of wild animals (especially shy ones!). Good job! I only thing that slightly bothers me is the yellow flower. I wish that was also in focus. |

90% wonderful shot. Was this in a zoo or were you wildly lucky? I don't like the "faded" area in the upper left corner. Did you shoot this through glass, maybe? The deep greens of the grass and the color of the fox are wonderful. 8 Swash |

Even though I know he's just sleepy, he looks sick to me. What's the blur in the upper lefthand corner? The blown out yellow flower is distracting. 5 Lisa |
