Okay, a LOT of post processing here - probably the most I've ever done on an entry.

The original idea was blue makeup with all of this blue, green, silver and gold glitter with these icicle things glued all around my hairline - sort of a winter, cold thing goin' on.

Well... I spent an hour putting on all of the blue makeup. The glittery goop on my face had alcohol in it and made my eyes red and weepy so I couldn't possibly take any more time to do the icicles or I was going to be crying and ruining the makeup. So I just shot it as it was, desaturated reds (red and watery eyes are not good for a blue picture) and dodged and burned like a mad woman, intensified the blue in my eyes, resized and sharpened.

It's darkened a LOT from the original picture, which I shot with a vision of winter white and blue coldness. Will probably re shoot with another idea, but I worked so hard for this on the makeup that I'm submitting it for now in case there's not time to shoot my other idea.

This is probably a shot that people are going to say, "gee, something's wrong. Your lips look blue." Ah, well...

Technically the shot is very good: nice composition, good DOF, brilliant color, etc. On a personal note, something bothered me so much that I could not give it more than a six. Personally, I prefer the face to be one entity that gives me a clue as to what the subject is feeling. In this photo the subject is so close that I have to look at each eye and the mouth seperately to figure out the emotion. A wider crop on this shot would have earned a much higher mark from me.

You've managed to create a close-up of your face that leaves the viewer not a clue as to what you really look like. It is a very effective photo though.

Wow, it's Mystique! ;) Very jarring on first view, an immediate positive impact. Great soft lighting and of course colour, and the eyes are perfect. Well done!
