So little.. tiny crop from the right .... levels... desat on the red as this shot was taken after 7 pm - very slight USM.. did a tiny bit of burning on the wrinkle lines in the falconers hands..... that's it

::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
powerful bird .. not enough of the hand for a photo which is titled hand of the falconer.

Composition:
This is nicely done, but would benefit from including slightly more of the hands in the picture ... it seems a little cut off at the wrist.

Subject:
Lovely and meets the challenge .. no animal did great in this challenge .. people seemed to want to see people.

Technical (Colour and light):
The hand is rather red .. but desating more may have killed the image itself ... it is a crisp and focused picture.

To grow its vote?:
Put in a person . .sorry but sometimes you got to play for what is asked.

Summary:
Great work .. you have a lovely portfolio .. if not deadly to small furry things :)

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

The falcon appears to be the subject of the photo, yet the title makes me think the falconer was to be the subject. I like the focus and lighting of the falcon, but the environment is not included and the hand is a distraction to me. If the falconer was to be the subject of the portrait then I think his face should have been included.

Very nice detail, color and composition. The blood on the hand really puts this into a 'setting/environment' and adds a greater sense of reality to the scene as opposed to it being staged. Well done!

Ok..bumped up a notch or two.

Is it a portrait of th bird or the falconer as the title suggests. Anyway, thats not really important, the eye is crystal sharp, as is the food. Only negative is that the hand looks to have a very strong reddish hue (might be the light or just the blood of the meat)

Great capture of the bird and, yeah, I'll accept the interpretation of the falconer's hand as a sort of a portrait.

I would have voted it higher if the actual falconer had been in the picture!

I would have liked to have seen the Master Falconer as I think this challenge was more about him than the falcon, but this is an extraordinary shot otherwise

Interesting twist on what I might have expected of a subject for this challenge. You've beautifully captured his environment, to me at least. Well done.
