Ah, well, thanks for all the comments. Believe me, the photo would not have been better with more depth of field. You really do need the depth of field to show that the wire is bending away from the viewer, rather than just being a loop of wire. And for those who said it was distracting, I'd ask...distracting from what? The phenominally interesting background? You're supposed to be looking along the line from the in-focus barb down and out of the picture. If I didn't want you to focus on the wire I'd have used a naked chick as a background instead of plain white :-) |

I would have cropped this on the right side of the barb at the top. It would have been a bigger image of teh wire and may have had a better effect. |

I'm torn on this one. As far as voting, I'm coming down on the "I like this side" but I'm not sure I like the effect with the barbed wire as it recedes into the distance. This is also almost too sparse for me -- maybe another loop of barbed wire somewhere in the shot -- or maybe even some other something altogether? Not sure. |

phenomenal graphic design. i like the use of depth of field to show that this is not a flat portrait. your separation from the background and detail on the first barb are both outstanding. mag 99 |

ah yes. I love simplicity. the blurring looks strange to me--i don't know why! still, a 10 for you! --amitchell |

So simple, yet so profound. I like the crispness of the first barb and how it fades to the last one. Good job. |

Interesting subject for such an artistic approach. I like the simplicity and clean background. However, I do think that a tad more DOF would improve slightly. Good job of getting out of the box! |

Excellent shot. I love the shallow DOF and the perfect focus on the near barb. 9-ClubJuggle. |

wow! Strong graphic. would like to see better depth of field but this is good...simple. No looking for the focal point here. |

While I like simplicity, this photo suffers from no real study of form or lines or texture. It apears that the blur is artificial. |

i think this is a VERY strong image this week. i really like the fade from focus as the barbed wire bends around and falls out of the image... I don't particularly like the effect that the post processing has had on that part of the wire. = 9 - jmsetzler |

A striking image in it's simplicity. DOF,focus, composition and exposure are all good. One of my top picks. |

There isn't a whole lot of depth of field here, bending the wire backwards beyond the edge of focus isn't a good idea.It is distracting.I like the idea of the wire on white. |

Very close barb. Interesting how you got a total lack of background. Although I don't really think this is technically wrong in any way, I have no connection to this shot. 6 Swash |

The overall composition is good, but I would have liked to see the entire wire in focus. The fuzzieness looks a bit wierd. |
