I spotted this beauty while walking in a park near where I live in Nashville, TN. This is a female Phidippus Audax, commonly known as the "Daring Jumping Spider", belonging to the family Salticidae. Those green fangs are, yes, infact irridescent. The animal is as wide as about the width of a small finger, not counting legs, and length was approximately 1/2" to 3/4". This image, the 15th in a series of takes, was captured with my EOS 300D and EF-S 60mm macro lens. Taken with flash at f/9, 1/200th sec. with flash (built-in), no tripod. Only editing was a simple sharpen plus crop and resize. |

The bottom half is stunning. I just wish you'd cropped it slightly above the head because that white patch is really distracting. |

AHHH. SPIDER.
Great macro. Maybe more DOF or a tighter crop at the top would have helped.

Yikes! It may serve this photo well to crop out some more of the out of focus stuff so the viewer is really led to the eyes. |

Great macro! I definitely don't think I'd want to find that anywhere. :) |
