Sundial Peak and Lake Blanche at sunrise.

After challenge:
It had rained really hard the night before I took this picture and I thought it would be beautiful up there early in the morning. So, I started hiking at 5:30 am. hoping to arrive at sunrise. The undergrowth was so wet I was soaked when I arrived at the lake. I made it just after sunrise and the lake was like glass. To get the picture I had to set the tripod up on a pretty steep incline and very low so I was looking through the viewfinder laying on the wet ground trying to see through my glasses while holding a split neutral density filter in place. That is why I ended up getting so much of the rock in the picture. Ten minutes later the wind came up and the lake became choppy.

Thanks to all who gave me such high marks. I really appreciate it. I'm so excited to receive a ribbon. It will motivate me to enter more challenges and take more pictures. Thanks again.

Thanks for the comments. They are very helpful as I am still learning!

That is one of the most beautiful photos I have seen. I'm adding that place to my list of vacation sites to visit. (Reminds me of Forest Gump movie) :)

Sounds like you could have used a right angle viewer for this shot. Then you wouldn't have to lie on the ground. Congrats on the ribbon, well done.

Beautiful photograph. The light is perfect as is the reflection. The foreground is a little distracting. This is worthy of a 9

It's a beautiful scene, but I'm not crazy about the foreground. Generally, when you're able to capture a perfect reflection, that should act as an ideal foreground. Additional elements aren't needed, such as the shoreline and rocks you have here. Having said that, you've done a good job with a high contrasty scene.

Very nice capture. The sky color is awesome especially considering not post editing. The low angle of the sun makes for nice contrast. I also like that you were able to get the reflection of the entire rock face all the way up to the point. I like this shot.

Very cool. I find the foreground a little distracting, but hey, just crop it for the print! This works very well for this challenge.

Beautiful.
I'd like it to be angled up abit more to get more sky and less of the distracting rock at the bottom. But apart from that i can't see anything i'd change.
Well done.

Nice view and good capture of the reflection. It doesn't wow me though. I think the vertical framing gives it a crowded feel. A horizontal (landscape) frame would have created more of a feeling of expansiveness that this subject needs.

Since the white stone in foreground is so much smaller than the mountain, i wont count off for it and you get a 10!!! That is my only negative comment!

you seem to have a gorgous photo here! to bad for the spots on the blue to the right of mtn top, also i would crop up from the bottom a bit if that were allowed, the rock at the bottom steals the eye, very nice job just the same!

Nice shot. I would have raised the center a little more to show more sky, still keeping the entire reflection, or zoomed in a little more. 6.

This is just not fair -- that you can get a photo that beautiful -- that marketable -- right out of the camera :) Just kidding -- WAY TO GO! This is a stunner! And what could you possibly do to it to make it better. I think nothing!
