I don't think that a small DOF works well in this challenge, esp here |

tremendous colours and an interesting composition---the odd focus and colouring make for a great shot |

I like the shapes and colors, but for myself would prefer a sharper focus for this subject. |

Wild effect you have going here. The center of this shot almost seems to jump out at you (I think due to the focus of the bark (rusted metal?) around it. This has both beauty and revultion at the same time. I didn't like it at first, but it grows on you. Started as a 6, but will bump up to a 7. Swash |

this picture has a sense of movement to me. I feel like I'm being drawn into it. I think it may be cropped a little tightly on the left though. karmat |

this shot sure has a lot of texture to it. it does look like it's vignetting (sp?) around the edges, kind of like you had a filter or lens attachment on your camera that doesn't work well with it (i know, i have one of those ... ) the whole photo could do with being just a tad sharper or more focused, even in the center. -- gr8photos (4) |

There's a lot of interesting texture here, but too much of it is lost in a shallow depth of field. |

Not nearly sharp enough to show the texture of the wood properly. |

Composition5 Originality6 Technical Aspects5 Meets Challenge6 Total Score6
For those that are just learning, like me.
Composition: Scoring in this area is based on basic composition of a picture and includes the rule of thirds, balance, cropping, and curved and diagonal lines. Subject matter that does not lend itself to the picture or otherwise unwanted is also considered here.
Originality: Scoring in this area is based on pictures or concepts that I have seen, as well as how much effort you have invested in the picture. Usually a little something that sets it aside from a snapshot. Does it make me want to come back for another look? You know things like that.
Technical Aspects: Focus, exposure, lighting, and other special effects (done by the camera), and post processing are all considered in this category.
Meets Challenge: This is based on my interpretation of if you, have/have not, met the challenge. This is fairly simple but quite important for this site.
There are many sites that can give you assistance in achieving better skills in photography, but I think the best way to learn is to take pictures and show them to other people. Believe me when it is a good one you will know it.
Good luck!

Hmm, I think I need a stronger prescription. |

Very out of focus/blurry. Needs a lot of composure work. |

Macro seems a bit too close on this one, stepping back a slight bit may of provided more area in focus. Looks like you used a magnifying glass, if so you could of used a wider ange on the lens to give you more depth of field. |

you need good detail, focus, to show texture. The bark is a great idea |

Good shot, but too much DOF effect for my taste (seems like a zoom pull/blur effect). |

This shot looks like it was shot with a really bad diopter. The edges are "rainbowed". Probably would have come out a lot better if it wasn't for that. |

Focus is difficult to find I'm afraid |

Abstract view of wood. I like the colors. Kee |

Very "fuzzy", I would prefer a little more "definition". |

The out of focus elements are really distracting. |

This is interesting texture, but the sharpness is definitely lacking... = 4 - jmsetzler |

I really like this composition. I guess you'll get alot of comments on how this is unfocused. but i think its an original way of dealling with texture |
