Challenge: Free Study XIII (Advanced Editing IV*)
Camera: Canon EOS-30D
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM for Canon
Location: Governors Bay, Christchurch, NZ
Date: Sep 11, 2006
Aperture: f5.6
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/100
Date Uploaded: Sep 11, 2006

Subject (me) lit with Canon 430EX strobe, on lightstand just out frame on subjects left.

Exposed for the background, then underexposed by a stop or two.

Dodged and burned in LAB, however the subject was naturally popped out of the picture due to the additional lighting.

Must have looked like a right-git jumping around on the jetty, this is the best of about 50takes. Timing the jump is surprisingly difficult...

Love it... The right part of the picture is "beautiful" while the left part of it (with you jumping) is funny and nead and ... well, good image and well performed.

Or as my little girl would say, "Jump...Jump...Jump!" You, also, appear to really have that ISO, shutter speed, and F-stop thing going on, too, because No Trails on the jump & pretty nice hyper-focal distance. Way to go!!!! :)

Great free study choice--a compelling landscape to back up your levitation concept. And your subject is so well lit, too. Methinks a pro is at work here. :-)

I like the way the water and the dock draw your eyes toward the background. Good use of dodge and burn. IMO, I think this would have worked as well to have him simply walking toward or away from the camera, or even standing by the railing, gazing outward.

Cool - great lines and contrast between lights & darks. Cool color tones and a beautiful setting. Levitate often? :) Maybe this will help...8.

I'm not getting this. This would be such an awesome shot without the model.

Generally a nice photo, bit of an overprocessed look for my liking.
