Greetings from the Critique Club
How about we talk about that damn ear? :P Seriously, the ear cropped out doesn't really bother me. The way you composed the shot does a good job of minimizes that, IMO.
As for the photo itself, I really like it. There's something very sad about it. The dark shadows and it's face visually buried in it's own body helps to convey that as well as the black eyes, which projects a sense of lifelessness. Unfortunately, all of these things that make this photo what it is are the same things that hurts it with the voters especially the shadows and more specifically the eye not showing the type of wonderful detail voters expect/demand. The border I'm not crazy about but the thickness of it does add yet another visual element that supports the sense of confinement which goes very well with the overall theme here.
Looking at the vote breakdown gives me the impression that most probably didn't stick around long enough to really look at this photo and appreciate it. I'm not really sure how you could have improve that other than making that eye more "eye catching" in post but then again I kinda like the darkness of it all. |

Wish the rest of the ear was visible, crop is distracting |

Wonderful contrast and detail. The roo looks very sad, maybe it's just the darkness of the photo. Very good! |

Sharp capture of the animals head. The pose of the animal is not very flattering. Maybe diagonally from the right or left would be better. I'd like to see all of the ears. The exposure seems a little dull with that light. A monichrome conversion might work. Good image. |

For my tastes, I wish there were more light in the eyes, but a good capture of an image! I like the pose. |

Good detail on the fur, would maybe have been nicer in a slightly wider crop. |

this is a good shot, the only thing is that it lacks some sharp definition. |
