THIS CRACKS ME UP - IT IS SO SWEET, AND FUNNY, AND GENTLE.
BEST WISHES TO PETE, AS WELL AS TO YOU. |

LOVE THIS ONE SHEZ, I THINK PORTRAITS SAY MORE ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER THAN THE SUBJECT, AND THIS ONE IS NO EXCEPTION. GREAT WORK. |

Remember, Shez, that this is photography and it is fun, creative and a learning experience: this is a very personal image, the kind that only you and those close to you can appreciate; it is intimate and touching...never let scores bother you; but sometimes it will hurt..just as some indiscreet comments can really hurt (I speak from experience). Always remember that it is an art form you seek and that you are an artist experimenting and perfecting your art...I'm glad you tried the sepia and b&w...I would say that: the image appears over-saturated and a little over-processed...take more images of Peter and try different angles of light, see what happens...Marion |

Hi Shez -
The sepia is good, although I prefer the original version because the colors on your husband's face add to the warmth of the photo.
Don't let the low rating get you down because you can't please everyone. It would be nice if some background information was included with each photo for the challenges, as evidenced by the fact that You ycertainly scored big with those who recognized your husband. And others who commented on this shot rated this pretty high! |

Shez, I am just now checking in to see the results of the challenges. I'm so sorry your photo of your beloved Peter didn't give you a better score. Free Studies are very tough, and I think people grade much harder in them.
It will always be one of my favorites. It makes me happy to look at it because I know the love that went into it -- and remains between you 2!

I have listened to a couple of members, who suggested I process this image, in black & white, but I felt it was to harsh. I then tried it in "sepia", and I like the softer version much better.....
I hope you like it as well..... |

Sherryl...all that matters is that you love this man and he loves you and that you entered a picture that represents him truly...well done...sorry you didn't do better scorewise |

Don't be disheartened. It is a great shot. I think Jutilda's idea is a great one. If not completely black and white maybe semi-desaturate. I love that semi-desaturated look. |

I'm shocked at the low score. I really liked it. Would it be boring in black and white??? It might be fun playing with it.

After the challenge results re the comments I received;
I am so disappointed with this result, as so many of you have said that I over processed this image.
Well I didn't really, as my husband has a very red pinkish freckled complection, and if I removed it by decreasing the red, it made the other colors look worse.
I just can't win.....

I liked this when it was in your portfolio and I liekd it as an entry. It may be suffering from a bit on the processing, but knowing who this is and who took it makes up for alot. Keep this shot close to heart Shez. Nice work. |

I like the composition, but the post-processing seems a bit heavy handed. |

Too much red & yellow in the face, probably needs to be toned down if it can be done without washing out the whites of the bird. |

I think this is a great shot. I just think the post processing could have been done a bit better. There's a lot of red in the skin tones. I love the expression. I think it could be a great shot with the right post processing. |

This photo is very special to me because I recognize him, and he is someone I pray for every day! I'm glad this one got entered, and I hope it does very well. It's emotive. It's well done technically, and has a very cute composition! Good luck! It sure has my vote! |

There's that terrific shot! Well done. Love the detail on him and the bird. If I were to critique a thing, I might back off a smidge on the red tones of his face, but otherwise - bravo!!! |
