I went to the tracks planning to find something interesting to shoot for the contest and luckily a train happened to come along 5 minutes after I got there. I put the train between the sun and the camera so that I could get an interesting lens flare or glare to play with. The train was moving fast so I didn't have too much time to play with angles and camera settings. I used a slower shutter speed to get the blur from the train movement and also add a little 'shake' to the composition to give the viewer the feeling of the ground shaking under them. I used the sharpen filter to take a little bit of the blur out so the usual crowd wouldn't complain about 'out of focus'.

Could have been great. Two problems. 1. blurred foreground and signal post. 2. Flat boring sky.

this would have been really nice if the signal, rocks etc were tac sharp and the only thing blurry was the train and maybe do something more with the color of the sky

I like the title and you captured the motion of the train well, but you also captured motion of the foreground somehow which kinda detracts.

My only criticism is the large white, bright sky area. I find myself either drawn to it or looking lower than your intended subject to get away from it.

You gave the sign meaning. Good one. Wish, though, you had included the whole sign. I know, with a train rushing by, and with no 2nd chance, you probably saw that later. Still a great idea and good exceution. Had you taken your time, and just concentrated on the sign, it would have been a static photo. You found the action.

The blur is, to me, too blurred that it is hard to tell what it is. (Duh, the sign.) But I like it.

I know I'm being rediculous, but I'm not a big fan of blurred movement.

Moving tripod? Loses effect since the sign is slightly blurred.
