Thanks for the comments everyone :)

Found a caterpillar a few months ago. Put it in large jar with some dill and a branch and it turned into a chrysalis a few days later. I was lucky to watch that process, as it was wiggling out of the caterpillar skin, it was quite amazing. Was setting up to take a photo, came back 5min later and the process had already started. Keeping it inside, perhaps the warmer temps confused it and a butterfly emerged ealier than it should? what a surprise it was one evening when I came in after work and a beautiful butterfly was in the jar. I had a double take. Was very gently in handling the pretty insect and managed to get it to land on the flower and take those pics that evening, and that was it, no reshoots. It was let go a few days later after the winds subsided and the weather was warmer.

I decided to go with this crop because the background I thought was better for the challenge ;) and there was more detail in the body. Perhaps I should've cropped the top to the point of the wing as well. Some shiny purple wrapping paper was used for the background. Do have a version with a different background, but will try to post that one later.

Under advanced rules I would've liked to darken the top right tip of the wing, it's reflecting too much of the light.

Here's a full wing outtake:

ahhhh, so pretty. The colors are wonderful. I really like the detail in the wings and the background does indeed enhance the subject matter! Nice image.

Pink bokeh, very nice! The clarity on the butterfly's wings is excellent. ~7

Dang butterflies. They are just strong in this challenge. Great detail on the bug and the background color is a nice contrast. I think your background patterns add well to the forefront image. Nice capture.

the crop is too close - you lost her full wingspan.

Good bokeh. I would prefer to see the entire butterfly or a macro of the head. Cut off wings doesn't work for me in butterflies or birds.
