This is a pretty good close up, and maybe I don't see the personal meaning of "something old" in the picture, but to me, the eye seems like a young eye. It doesn't seem old at all. Young and full of vibrance. But it IS a good shot. |

Sharper focus would have added depth to the image |

Wise, maybe.... old? I dunno. Can't tell... 4 sjgleah |

Would be better if focused more sharply. An eye with a few wrinkles around it would say "old." |

This look like a very young eye.......too young to be too wise.... The focus is a little soft for my taste also..... |

out of focus and it's young eye. ?. Has this eye seen more than would follow from it's age? i don't understand! |

In the thumbnail view I thought "Wow! Beautiful photo!". But now in close up I think it's just a little bit too blurry (but still a beautiful eye). I like the blur for how it softens the eyelashes, I just think it's a tiny bit too much. I must admit I don't really understand the theme and title. The eye looks so young and not really belonging to a wise old guru or something ;-) -stephan |

Something old. Use your photographic technique to emphasize the age of your subject. Composition - good. what is the reflection? Technical Aspects - looks a little out of focus Meets Challenge - probably. A wrinkle would have helped. Visual Impact / Originality - good

Sorry, but I don't get it. What is the reflection of? |

Is the focus meant to be this soft? It dosen't work for me at all. |

I htink a sharper focus would help this one, simply because it would be interesting to see what the reflection was. karmat |

Out of focus (maybe it's deliberate) and also looks like the eye of someone really young to me. |

Turns out eyes are very hard to photograph up close with an AF camera. Good idea, but the lack of focus is too distracting. Try using the manual focus features of your camera, and make sure the camera's macro capability is up to the task. |

Way too blurry and doesn't fit the theme. Seems like you just gave it an "old" title and shot whatever you wanted. |

Focus problems, and irrelevance to the challenge |

This may be a case of shooting the photo and then cropping one part out and blowing it up. Or maybe you were just too close for your camera to focus well. I'm not sure what type of camera you're using so I'm not sure what to say. |

Interesting take on the challenge... these eyes look great-- but not at all old! I love the slight reflection in the eye, and the overall contrast. A great photo... but would've done better in a different challenge.

Soft focus on purpose? How about toooo close? Why is the eye wise? What is the reflection of? This shot raises more questions than it answers. 6 Swash |

great idea but the eye looks young / youthful, which I don't think of as "wise" -- a wrinkly eye would have portrayed the idea more drastically. |

The focus seems out, giving the whole picture a washed out feel. I think it would have worked better in crisp focus. I also think the theme doesn't meet the challengeâ€Â¦ Sorry to be so negativeâ€Â¦ |

This photo does not meet the challenge "in my eyes". The eye in the photo does not appear "old", and, sorry, but I do not see "old" in the reflections in the eye either. I do like the b&w, and the lighting for the shot. lhall |

This photo is a bit bewildering... I'm sure there's something I should be seeing, but I'm not. The eye doesn't look very old, and there's only one of them, and I can't make out anything in the reflection... so what does it have to do with age or wisdom? It's very nice black and white though, and I love the soft focus. |

neat idea, but i think it would have been better if it was less blurry. |

The reflections in the eyes is a wonderful aspect of the image,.. if the soft focus was intention then well done.. Ronin - 6 |

Out of focus, and the reflection is distracting. A much older looking eye would have been better for this contest. |

I'm having a hard time seeing the link to this week's challenge. Maybe this would have worked better if the image was sharper and the subject would have been older (wrinkles, etc.), thus showing wisdom with age. |
|
|
08/05/2002 07:20:00 PM |
Sorry, I can't see the connection with "old". |
|
|
08/05/2002 04:52:00 PM |
out of focus. doesn't look wise to me. Go for something with more wrinkles... oh yeah focus is good too. |
|
|
08/05/2002 03:44:00 PM |
the highlights within the eye are interesting, but i can't see any connection to "something old." also, the photo is quite blurry and the title doesn't lead me to any conclusions about your intent. ~mcmurma Aesthetics...3 Meets Challenge...3 Overall...3 |

Out of focus on my monitor. And I'm seeing a pretty eye, not an old eye or a wise eye. Maybe she's a wisecracker? |

oung eye, out of foucs and without having struggled enough for a lot of wisdom. Reflection in eye distracting too boot -4 |

sorry, it is too blurry. If you wanted to show oldness in these eyes you need much better focus so that we can see all the wrinkles etc. |
|
|
08/05/2002 12:52:00 AM |
An older subject (person) would have been better, but a great shot of the eye. |
|
|
08/05/2002 12:24:00 AM |
I'm not sure how this photo says 'old' to me... the lack of focus doesn't help out much... maybe backing up a little bit with your camera and then cropping the eye into an image of it's own would allow you to get better focus. If this soft focus was your intention, I'm not sure how it adds to the image... - jmsetzler |
