Thanks everybody for your comments. This is my first picture and I'm glad I received some very helpful tips to improve myself.
The picture is actually a toy dinosaur from Jurassic Park which is very real looking. I buried it in a sandpit on a playground so I could make it look as if it just died a couple of days ago. I had lots of fun taking this picture because many kids were nearby watching while I was working.
The problem I have is really my camera. It's a Sony Digital 8 Camcorder DCR-TRV330 (which is not listed, please do so). This video camera has the "additional functionality" of taking still pictures and store them on a Memory Stick. The resolution that this camera gives me is very poor. Colors are not really well captured and image definition is lacking. Total resolution of the CCD is 0.46 Megapixels.
So what I did on Photoshop is to adjust saturation, brightness and contrast. I knew the picture looked a little too soft, but if I applied the sharpen filter the grains of sand would stick out too much (too bright), and I thought it would look as if I had buried it in sugar or something.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your comments. I will try to buy a reall digital camera, maybe until Xmas. :) |

Good idea -- I almost went and shot a T rex skeleton, but didn't think of this way... |

Similar to the other dinosaur picture this one is better in my opinion given the additional sand giving it a more natural feel |

Don't be upset if it's not... but was this a toy you "buried"? If so, good idea!! |

Is it just me or is that a plastic T-Rex in a sand pit? Great idea if it is.
Would have scored it much better but the sand just looks too blurry :-(. |

Image quality does not help. |

The picture didn't quite pull it off if this is the real thing. The light glare on the bottom jaw gives it a plastic effect. This does portray the challenge though. =6 syamjonimi |

Something old. Use your photographic technique to emphasize the age of your subject. Composition - quite good Technical Aspects - quite good Meets Challenge - yes Visual Impact / Originality - high

This is a great concept... The image, however, seems to be quite pixellated and lacks sharpness... Was this enlarged from a smaller image? - jmsetzler |

This would be a really good picture if it were in sharp focus. If this is intentional, I've missed the point - sorry(6) - I like the idea and the colour is great... |

Lol - nice idea but there's no substitute for the real thing. If Im not mistaken this is one of those toy archeology dig things you can buy. Or is it just a toy dinosaur in a sandpit? Regardless, though, some care has been taken with the lighting and the arrangement and to good effect. The resolution of the picture is a little low, though. |
