Choose semi-sweet, milk or bittersweet chocolate according to your taste and sweetness of foods being dipped.
12oz. good quality chocolate finely chopped
1/2cup whipping cream
1 TBLSP. cognac, rum or orange liqueur (optional)
In medium saucepan, heat cream until very hot. Remove from heat and add chocolate. Let stand til softened, about 3 minutes. Add cognac with whisk until smooth. Transfer to fondue pot and place over burner to keep warm. Use fresh fruit of choice for dipping: strawberries, cherries, apples, bananas, pineapple and oranges are favorites. Also pound cake and marshmellows make good additions. Extinguish candle if chocolate gets too hot.
Serve with ice wine or other sweet dessert wine.
Enjoy!!

Good lighting. The dark tones and candle set a proper mood for this romantic dish. I do wish there was a bit more chocolate, perhaps a freshly dipped fruit ready to eat.

Pos .. excellent focusing, love the total black background and the candle adds a very nice touch.
Neg .. The knife is a throw off for me .. I think it would be better as well if you show more of the top view.

The blue pot is lost in the background. A different color backdrop probably would help. Good composition and lighting though.

I will be checking to see if this one was rewarded with the blue ribbon or with any of the next two. It is closer to the blue from what I think.

Nice shot. I wish I could see what in the pot? Good composition and lighing. 7.

I really like the choice to put this against a black background - and nice control on the lighting (fill flash, yes?) to make sure everything is visible. I like the way the colors (especially the bright red of the strawberries) stand out, as well.

Chocolate and Strawberries! YUM!!! ;) But this shot leaves me wanting more, if one of the strawberries had been dipped already and the background blends too mcuh with the pot for the fondue. The chocolate spread all over the plate is also a bit distracting. A 7 to start

The blue fondue pot is too dark for the background. Either using a lighter colored pot or a littler colore backgound would help. The presentation and setup is nice and interesting.

This is a good idea, and I like the dark background to enhance the romantic mood, but I think it may be too dark, The shaft of the fork gets lost and leads my eye to the dark area of the background on the left The sides of the bowl and support blend to much with the background

Since I don't know what this is, i guess I'm a little confused. I find myself wanting to see the top of the candle thing. Maybe just since I don't know how this works. I see the apples and strawberries, and they look good. I'm not seeing the purpose of the knife, but I find the red end to be slightly distracting, as it is noticable, and out of focus. The setup is nice, and I like how it's centered. Your focus is good on the candle and strawberries. Overall, interesting, but confusing to someone who doesn't know what they are looking at. The red of the strawberrys really stand out. Love the perspective that this was shot. Very nice composition. 10

Superb! Nice colors - the strawberries are nice 'n red, not washed out.

When should I arrive? :-)

Oh boy, a tough one. Gets my 10, though, it's very good. It's one of those shots where you're going to like it a lot or not. Low key really annoys some folks, but I think it came off as injecting a romantic feel that really pumps it up. Wow.

An awkward shot to shoot - having not tried to shoot anything as tall on a plate you want to zoom into a fair ammount I can't see how difficult it would have been to get a slightly over head shot whilst keeping the part of the candle burning in this picture but overall as you have it it is a brilliant presentation... Nice reds in the strawberries too - reminds me of Fresh Strawberries with fresh mint and heaped up clotted cream :0) Yummmmmmmmy

I'm glad to see there's only one other fondue shot in the challenge -- we're reasonably original (I shot the other one)! I might have tried using a light background on this one. I'm having a hard time making out the dish against the dark background. My only other suggestion would have been to use a smaller aperature so that the whole fork could be in focus -- that's something I struggled with in my own shot.

Nice presentation - would like to see the chocolate aspect a bit more clearly - perhaps a chocolate drizzled strawberry on the end of the stick. The lighting works well, I like the lit candle. The focus is a bit soft in the right hand corner for me - especially since the placing of the fondue fork has the wooden end sticking out in a way that draws attention. That said, I like its position, tempts the viewer to reach in and take some. 7
