Been away for a number of weeks now. Busy with work etc. This was taken on a saturday drive in the country just outside of a little place called Wagin. It is a farming community. They have a lot of sheep and a lot of canola which is that yellow stuff.
When I saw this I knew it would make a great shot I could hang on a wall aswell as meet the current challenge. Up until then I was gonna give it a miss again.
Patience my friends, PATIENCE.

I dont care what this scores coz I'm pretty happy with it, hope you like it too. The sky was too overcast but that doesnt matter too much.

I love the way the yellow color of the canola field contrast with the angry sky!
A little burning on the clouds would make this even prettier!

IMHO the cloud covered sky makes this shot! The dominant tones of the sky and the canola are broken up nicely by the placement of the tree in the composition. I saw "album cover for a Windham Hill" when I saw this. Extremely well done.

I was disappointed to see this one not place in the top three. Great job... I gave it a 9... only because of the overcast conditions... nothing you could have done about that though. Was still the highest score I gave last week... congratulations on a wonderful shot.

Woo Hoo. 5th Place. I'm Back. When I saw the 7's roll in I was trying not to get my hopes up on a ribbon, glad I didnt.
To all who gave such good comments I thank you, it made entering challenges again worthwhile.
When I saw this I knew it would make an awesome shot.
My girlfriend really likes this shot so I told her if makes top 10 ill do an A2 blockmount and hang it up in the lounge.
This made my day.

Wow what a great contrast. I love the vivid yellow of the image, the starkness of the single tree and then the grey clouds is wonderful. Nice dramatic use of distance and space - supports the alone, solitude feel. Great detailing. An exceptional image. 9

The yellow seems a little to strong for the setting, but this is a beautifully composed image. Fits this challenge better than most.

+Good feeling of alone.
Vibrant yellow hue in the foreground. Helps to lead eyes to the single tree.
Great composition.
- More contrast should help the clouds separate , give the plants more detail, and it would help the tree become darker.

Nice composition, but the tree should be at least as sharply focused as the closest plants. More depth of field, or bring the tree in closer.

Positively love the composition. Woderful contrast between the vivid flowers and the drab, desaturated sky. Title works beautifully.
I might have adjusted hue & saturation slightly to give the flowers a bit less "lemon", more yellow tone, and maybe gone just a hair sharper.

I really like this picture. I think a clear bright blue sky would have improved it, however, the clouds certainly don't hurt it. Nice job. I look forward to the end of the challenge to find out where this was taken.

Great image. Tried a similar idea myself but it didn't work out so I went with something else. The color in the foreground really hepls seperate the main subject and making it stand all alone.
