 This is my third submission to this challenge. I'm having a hard time deciding, but I think this one is best. The DOF may be a bit too tight for DPC voters, but oh well.

I love the Canon 50mm f/1.8! For $80, you just can't buy a more creative and fun lense.

This shot was a starfish on white paper with a tungsten lamp very close (mostly desaturated to remove the yellow hue). I used a +3 closeup filter to get me in really close.

PP was crop, levels, Neat Image, desaturation, resize, sharpen, and border.

Jeff, very nice use of shading here to bring out patterns and shapes. Really nice composition on top of everything else.

Thanks chele, and thanks for comments, all! I really liked this one, so middle of the pack is a little disappointing. But, it's still my second highest shot, and I didn't get any 1's ro 2's! =)

Nice idea and execution. I'd like to have seen a little longer DOF, but that really is only personal preference.

Good composition and great use of shallow DOF. But what's with that frame? It's far too distracting for such a pretty picture.

HAHA! I get it! Starfish! As in "light" (star) on white?
I like the tone and sharpness fall off as the starfish goes out of frame.
