Well, I piddled around taking pictures of this lily all day today until the light went. Took it from room to room to find the best light. Finally got some decent shots in the entry way. Bought the flower yesterday in Taos after I searched all over the second hand and antique shops there for a white teapot for my original idea. Had already searched all over Alamosa for one.

Editing: Crop; Adjustment layers for levels, curves, selective color, contrast & cooling photo filter; flatten image; reduce midtone contrast; mask flower and remove noise from background only; VERY slight diffuse glow; burn midtones in petals; crop again; resize; smart sharpen; sharpen tool on petals; save for web.

Very nicely captured floral image. The background is not pure white and that may hurt it with voters (as if being a flower won't already. lol)

Because of monitor differences sometimes it is difficult to obtain pure white. It appears solid white on your monitor when it really isn't. The only way to know for sure is if your image editing software has a numeric display for the luminosity of individual points in the image (most do). In that case pure white will be displayed as 255 in all three RGB colors.
