 Okay, for starters, this isn't meant to be good, it just for fun. But I had to enter since I did this whole thread on how I wanted this challenge to be brought back...so I kinda had to. Oh and if you're wondering what's in my hair, it's a flosser. They floss :)

Quality isn't great, flash is a "no no", kind of hazy since I couldn't add more contrast w/out blowing out highlights, and done at 3am, so I don't really look my best. The one thing that would have REALLY made this better was if I had worn my black Gi (uniform) instead of my old white one in the closet. I'm also not an orange belt, I'm a blue belt...which is two ranks higher than orange belt. And techniacally I'm not a Dental Assistant yet, I'm a student for it.

Yeah, so I dodged and burned the eyes, dodged a couple of shadows, added neat image, color, contrast, etc. I think it's a cute shot, but it the more I look at it the more I think it'll end up at 5.5 or so...

Nice pose, expression, and arrangement of elements including toothbrush and floss pick behind ear. Off-camera key light with diffuser would help.

I was looking at this thumb yesterday, a really cute image an dI think nicely done. there is a couple ickys by the brush but overall its a fun image.

I am probably repeating what 10 others have already said, but here goes anyway:
I like your idea and interpretation, but don't care for the full-on flash look.
Try bouncing it, using additional lights, reflectors, etc.... anything to soften those shadows. Then step away from the wall a bit more and presto... an improved photo.

Simply wow!The combat dress, the smile and the weapons in hand- all so apt. great picture. Maybe a focus on face (specially eyes) wud have added more to the goodness of it

LOL! Yes m'am, I will floss too! Just don't punch my teeth out! A flash modifier and standing further away from the wall could have helped reduce the shadows in the background.

Nice caption and shot - although there are few, if any Karate instructors with an orange belt, I'd say.

lovely face...perhaps the lighting is a bit harsh from the flash. The shadows are a little strong. I do like the pose and the idea. In resizing, you may want to look at one of the tutorials as there are some distracting artefacts around the brush
