I don't like the light here. The light from the back is too obviously unnatural, and the drawing light is very flat. Also don't like removal of the background. 5 |

Pensive & contemplative pose - not sure how many artists could pull this one off...
I love how all points lead the eyes with nothing else on any other plane to distract the viewers attention. The lighting is nigh spot on with perfect backlighting - I love how it brought out the grittiness in the face just enough to provide a grounding realism & authenticity to the pose.
Enviably executed... << 10 >> |

Really like the lighting, especially the slight backlighting on the hair, although its a bit distracting on the shoulders. Really nice tho - 8 -

Nice backlighting and texture. I would suggest a softer foreground light off to one side to add shadow interest on the face, and dodging the irises to keep the eyes from looking completely black. Otherwise, good job. ;-) |

the more i look at this the better it becomes ... started at 6 coz i hadnt given it the time of day, and now its a 9!! ... fantastic composition, contrasts, lighting, expression, hands, eyes, hair ....ears, lol .. but you'd get the picture ... might have to put up with getting a blue ribbon!! ... |
