I'd like to see this do well as I think it represents my best of 2006, but I'm up against a ton of great competition, so I'll hope for maybe top 10%. That would rock!
I might get dinged for the centered horizon, but I think it adds to the calm stillness of the shot. It was very early morning (5:17 am) and we had driven over an hour to get there. It was also extremely cold for August! Sadly, no fish were caught, but did see lots of large animal tracks.
Editing was very minor, a touch of crop/horizon adjust, USM, slight levels, hue, and sat adjust, and that's about it.
POST CHALLENGE - I think people thought that is the sun in the shot, but it was really early morning, that's the full moon! Thanks for the constructive comments, I agree w/ most of what was said. Oh, and it wasn't bright enough to cast much reflection. |

I just realised you can say "Serene Dawn" in a way that almost sounds like you're saying "Celine Dion". ;>þ
Nice picture, by the way. It looks as though if you had made one step forward, you would have got the sun's reflection on the water as well. |

| Very serene! I think the shot is really well balanced and had the tones of the sky balanced the rest of the image, I'd score higher. Either way, you got a good score from me. Good luck! |
