 Showing proper respect for a well used pencil. Laying to rest on a bed of sharpener debris and Purple Crepe Myrtle blossoms. I wish I had dulled up the sides of the erasser metal to kill the reflection.

Nice idea. But the lighting is not so good. Flash is (in my opinion) a very bad light source. A desktop lamp casting its light from a lower angle and from the side would make this photo much better I think. It would give the petals much more depth and the glare on the pencil would be gone, too.

Dead pencil. It looks like he's laying on some flower petals and pencil shavings. The lighting is good and I like the angle of the pencil. The glare on the pencil between where it says USA and HB is kind of distracting. Otherwise great photo. Good luck in the challenge.

The texture and colour of the background is what draws me to this one, and the way that the colour combo (to me) is not attractive but that just makes me look more.

Great focus on this close-up. This pencil surely is done-fer! Little too much glare on flat side of pencil.

Visual Appeal to me:not really very appealing to me but personal taste varies.
Remarks:the purple stuff is interesting...not sure what it is though. Petals?

I like the idea, but the pencil blends too well into the rest of the picture (it has take on purple hues).
