Nice idea... Too bad there is a problem with blown highlights. Did you have music for the ballerina when you shot this?
08/23/2002 09:06:00 PM
This is very creative...love the reflection of the pencil/tutu on the wood. i wish the backdrop were plain black instead of textured...it would add to the 'stageness' of the photo. Great job!

Excellent lighting and composition!
Very creative for this challenge!
Congratulations...

This photo scores very high with me on the creativity scale. The lighting and the reflection on the wood surface really make this photo stand out nicely :) The composition is also very impressive... you have me wondering how you still the pencil up like this... great shot :) = 9 - jmsetzler

I love this!!!!!

Very cute. The photo is a little dark for my taste, but I know you did it to emphasize the light on the pencil's tutu. It has great effect, but I think it would have been more powerful if the light didn't spill onto the curtain to the left of the pencil. It looks great spilling onto the curtain behind the pencil, but for some reason, that other little spot of light is distracting. I love how you tied the ribbon on to represent the pencils slippers. Very creative. Good luck in the challenge.

Very nice, but I'd have cropped a bit closer to get rid of the white reflection at the bottom.

Thanks for the chuckle, good job! Nice exposure (though watch those highlights), good arrangement, creative, and very clean.

great composition, color and sugject..the reflection is great. ..only negative would be that the drapes are sharper than the pencil

very, very cute. its definetly growing on me as the week goes on. 8 for now...
08/21/2002 03:01:00 PM
very funny. way to be creative. nice light. like the reflection. 8
08/21/2002 03:01:00 PM
I would prefer a starker non textured background. Was it difficult to get the pencil to pose for this picture? This makes me smile....
08/21/2002 02:29:00 PM
Awesome idea. I like the composition and framing. karmat

I love a good pun..................the reflection is an added bonus...............interesting photo...............well balanced and great lighting.......... hope you win with this one!!
08/20/2002 05:24:00 PM
Cute! I love the reflection in the polished floor. I think this also benefits from the non centred composition. I don't like the "stage curtain" texture (but please don't think I am insulting your house interiors!).

I love the lighting in this and the sweep of the "curtains". This is such a cute and original idea.
08/20/2002 02:55:00 PM
Very creative! Got a good chuckle :)
08/20/2002 02:40:00 PM
i like it but could you have had less light on the tutu
08/20/2002 02:20:00 PM
I hope everybody gets en pointe of the ballet connection – it’s funny, the idea of a pencil in a tutu is superb. Wit aside, it’s one thing to have a good idea, another to make it a good shotâ€Â¦ You have excelled yourself in that area as well. This is an easy 10, I can’t fault the shotâ€Â¦ Good luck, I hope this does as well as your imagination deservesâ€Â¦

CUTE! Where DO these ideas come from? I would like it better if there were a clearer reflection of the subject at the bottom... maybe a black reflective surface here?
08/19/2002 07:15:00 PM
the reflexion saves it...
08/19/2002 07:02:00 PM
You have a clever...{weird} brain!! LOL Love it. Good job, great. Creative!!!!!!! Score 8 ~Kee

08/19/2002 05:09:00 PM
lol! *shaking my head* - I can't even comment! how funny! where did you get such an idea? spotlight and all....8
08/19/2002 02:17:00 PM
LOL. Great concept. Backround is distracting somewhat, but I love the reflection.
08/19/2002 02:15:00 PM

YAY! An original idea! Way to go. Very cute.

Good title (hope everybody gets it). The picture is silly and actually quite meaningless but fun. I find the tablecloth acting as the background a little too heavy and overwhelming. A black solid background would have worked better I think. Also find the reflection of the pencil and tutu a bit too much. Did you consider cropping just below the point? Fun idea though.
