But there is no 17 across on that puzzle... Nice composition.

I liked all the crossword photos this week. They remind me of my grandpa who carried one with him everywhere. This is a lovely background, and great addition of the sea shells to the foreground. Looked like a very nice day. Is that the ocean? Being from Michigan, I've seen my fair share of water and beaches. I've never seen the ocean though. Lighting, angle and focus are great. Good luck in the challenge.

I like the composition and the contrast between the beach-scenary and the paper/pencil make this an interesting photo.

very nice. i like how the puzzle has only some done. The sky is just breathtaking and the seashells definetly add to this pic. its a nice clear pic and the colors are great!

I can't find 17 across..... when I count it out 17 begins in the middle of a word, so, at best it would have to be 17 down. This is a pleasant concept for the pencil challenge. The picture has a nice warm comfortable feeling. I think I would score it higher if it was cropped closer to the sea shells and leave the horizon and people out. The background get so out of focus that it draws my eye up instead of keeping it focused on the challenge topic.

Thinking outside the box. Nice shot and created in the camera not the computer.

I really like this, but finally realised after noticing I was tilting my head slightly that the water needs to be horizontal as it's the true horizon. It looks as though you've set horizon for a line between the line of the water and the line of the beach?
Really like the low low viewpoint you've taken to photograph this.

Great shot...

Great shot. I wish there was a little less sky and a little more clarity on the crossword puzzle though.

You guys have to stop with the beach photos, I'm getting so homesick! I like the DOF on this shot and the kids in the background. 8

Excellent composition.

Nice image; original and sets a nice mood. The title suits well, too. I like the fact that the foreground is sharp and focuses my attention on the subject and with detail of beach objects. Then in the background is the blurred beach scene. 6 Journey

Good creativity and good composition although the picture does not look 'nice' to me. Still a 6

Good composition and original idea. I think that the shallow DOF works well bringing the eye down to the subject. This picture also just has a great "feel" to me...I can't explain it, I just like it. Good job! - 8 Kat

It could be my laptop, but the words seem washed out by the sun. Maybe the graphite is reflecting too much. Would have liked to read the words written in.

like the idea. I just wish there was something more interesting to see at the top...
