A great idea!

Is that pencil held upright using a nail through the paper? Good idea, but with a bit more attention to detail this picture could be improved a lot: IMO the drawing is a bit sloppy, I'd prefer not to be distracted by the borders of the paper sheet, and the lighting of the pencil is too unbalanced for my taste. Of course, that may be just me...

I'm not too keen on the lighting. The contrast in colour between the two sides of the photo is a bit much.

I like the bw, and the way the pencil and paper casts shadows. Good composition, I think. karmat

Very well lit and arranged.

Nicely done. Focus looks ok, the top of the pencil is just a bit out of focus, but not bad enough to really matter. The picture seems just a bit dark to me. 7

Neet idea having a pencil draw a pencil all by itself. The overall look is greyish looking to me, in my opinion full color would have worked better to give the pencil some power.

I like the angle this was done at and I like that the pencil is parallel to the bottom of the photo. This is a really cool idea. The lighting is great and there are no disturbing shadows or bright spots that take away from the photo. Great job and good luck in the challenge.

This is a superb shot. I can’t work out how you got the pencil to look unsupported, and without affecting the shadow as wellâ€Â¦ Wicked shot – has to score high, I was looking at it for agesâ€Â¦ (10)

The shading works pretty well here, though the picture overall is a bit dark. Also, and I know this may not be pointed out much, you have too many sides of the pencil drawn - a six-sided pencil would only have 3 sides visible normally. Good effort, though, and creative idea.

A little too monochrome but I love the shadow cast by the pencil and the angle of it. How did you get it to stay up?

feels almost like an Escher drawing :) Some fill light on the left might have helped even things out ?

Nice B&W.

I like the idea very much. It would've been great in the drawing was a bit more attractive. Also it needs a bit more sharpness.

Ummm... all I can say is WOW! How'd you do get that pencil to stay nice and upright for you? Good idea... nice composition... perphaps a bit dark overall but I like it. --9-- sohr

standing pencil, great

How did you make it stand up? It's wonderful! crisa58

This is great though I have NO idea how you did it! Would love to know what's holding that pencil up! 9 Kaz

This is another nice take on the "self portrait" idea. I like how the pencil is standing on its own. 6 -lennier
