 Cut a black square of construction paper, mounted a white square on top, and then glued black strips on top of that to create the grid. Laid everything out and lit from two sides.

Crop/rotate, resized, fixed up some of the lumps/shadows from the paper grid, adjusted levels and colors, cloned out a few dust specks, usm, save for web.

great job... i like the idea, and it is a well done and very clean image. i'm curious as to how you did this without parallax on the peripheral aspects (increased camera-to-object distance using a telephoto lens?)
