The subject is enhanced by the surrounding scenery. |

Nice! Looks to me like the Australian bush :-)
The outer frame seems a bit thick to me (distracts from the main image) but the photo itself is well-shot. |

oy with the frames around here...is this some sort of psychological compensation for the editing you cannot do? WOW.... I do not lik this fram ad all....the color is really not pleasing and does not work for me with this shot.....the shot has very good detail and I like the various directions of the sparse needles around the cones, but the over all composition could have been better. |

Quite a simple shot, really, but I like it! I like the border too. The colors and sharpness are good. Nice job. I gave this an 8. |

The border is too strong and detracts from the image, in my opinion. |

A potentialy pleasing and compositionally satisfying capture of a somewhat common subject. The tri-cluster of cones adds interest as much as the star-burst needles. The natural colours also contribute to a positive overall impression.
The focus, however, does not appear to be as crisp as one would expect, particularly within such a narrow depth of field. Although there is evidence of overexposure on parts of the cones, it is unlike to strike a casual viewer as a dominant flaw. Despite the almost central composition and because of the distant cone (near bottom left) and the curved branch intersecting the image, the distribution of available weights remains, indeed, reasonably balanced.
The sheer size and colour/line intensity/weight of what I\'d consider a redundant border takes away potential image size and, IMHO, distracts from what is essentially a very humble capture. |

The shades of green make this a very easy photograph to look at. Lovely. It can also be called the smell of spring. Very pleasing. I don't know about the cones being full centered. Maybe a slight clockwise tilt of the camera to make the stem more diagonal and placing the cones on the lower 1/3 intersection? |

Your ingenuity paid off here. A touch out of focus, but still a great shot. The border really compliments the photo. Well done. |

Nice image, like how DOF choice throws background out of focus. Can smell the pine. |

This is a great photo. The colors compliment each other (isn't God smart?) and your frame adds to the overall effect. |

This works. I think your frame is nice and wouldn't say that about all photos. The pine is excellent for the challenge. I do think the shot could of used some more focus and the light is a little harsh. Maybe some saturation on the pinecones. Still this should do well...hey your bang on for the challenge. |

Wonderful image. The border is a bit too much, but that won't affect the score. Definitely projects an aroma/scent. Nice work. |

Perfect for the challenge. Absolutely love your DOF, and the shot in general. Visually engaging, with beautiful color. Have to say that I find the border a bit overwhelming. |

Sensational shot, I can almost smell the pine cone. Not sure about the green border, but not sure why I'm not sure. Love it though. |
