I took several of these fallen camillia photos, some with fill flash, some without. This one did not need. However, I did have to underexpose - two full stops, to keep the bright part from blowing (it is partially blown in the RAW file). I also added a warming filter, as this was an "open shade" situation. The RAW file has an unflattering bluish cast. I would have used a much larger aperture if I'd had my sigma lens and tripod with me, but my "regular" lens does not open beyond f/5.6 in most situations (yuck). I got stung by a bee while taking this photo, BTW. Not sure this one is worth it :-)

I love the juxtaposition of dead leaves and bright, pretty flower. The color is gorgeous and I can still see some detail. Nice!

a very nice shot indeed, catherine i think if you can pull the stamens in crispness, then it'll be worth it. well exposed and composed. good one!

Sorry about the bee sting, but I think it was worth it. This is a very nice composition with good texture and color. I can see this in pp with everything in the background receding in darkness and just the flower and the few leaves in front standing out.

Great Macro. The colours are really nice. I agree with KarenNfld, great contrast between life and death.

Beautiful color. I love how you can get such intense color without having to add saturation.

love your composition.. love the beautiful colours with that splash of green ... the contrasting texture and colour of the leaves against the soft red petals and yellow centre is excellent ..

Owww! Durn bee. Pretty good composition, good light. My only nit would be that I'm more drawn to the leaf fragments, but I think that's because I prefer their texture.

Pretty pink flower! Your focus is spot on. Can you adjust the contrast in camera? That might have given it a bit more POP against the leaves. Great photo though!
