 The purpose of this picture was to explore the zone between masculinity and femininity. I wanted it to be a little provocative without using drastic effects, but trying to catch the model's personality instead.

The picture was shot at home with ordinary lamps and lighting, no studio equipment at all. It was then processed to b/w, increasing contrast and then cropped.

This beeing my first challenge, my first try ever to take a 'studio picture' and me beeing a novice, I would appriciate any constructive criticism, comments or suggestions!

Anyway..
You definitely did a FANTASTIC job at your stated purpose. I love androgynous looks sometimes and this was just so great. Wonderful score for your first challenge entry (or any entry for that matter)! And a good "studio" shot also. Some people who have been here much longer (e.g. me) could not do so well.

nice image. good lighting, love the pose the expression is nice. focus seems to be a little off though, nothing tack sharp. I would land this as a 9 b/c of the focus issue.

Reminds me of an image of kd lang. Nice portrait. Lighting is a touch harsh, but overall well done with the diagonal line created by the tilt of her head. Bumping up.
