 another last minute entry. I couldn't find the chains! Taken about 90 minutes before deadline. taken outside at night, lit only with flash to get black background. rubbed dirt on hands and forearms, then wet some spots of my hands.

PP: crop. layers for curves to bump contrast, then a channel mixer layer for b&w conversion. duplicate background layer for dodge and burn to get weathered look to hands, and to elinate harshness of bright shiny chain. USM at large radius. resize for web. then USM of entire image at small radius, then selective sharpening of hands and chain. save for web. then lots of praying that I didn't submit junk again!

I really like this one two, again the amount of oil like on the one hand decrease it because of the loss of detail in that area

Steve- I thougt this was very good - good lighting and nice use of B/W - gave it an 8 during the challenge. I think the 'dirt and grime' could have been a little better had not been so 'blocky' on the hands.

Good job making the arms look grimy, but the shiny chains do not match the distress of the scene.

Cool, gritty image and love the b&w... but the plaid button-up shirt detracts from the shot IMO.
