These train tracks run through my neighborhood and I cross them every time I'm coming in or going out. For the most part, they are in a perfect area because I love hearing the sound of trains from my house and they aren't close enough that it sounds like the train is coming through the house. However, the only sort of schedule that I've been able to determine is that the train undoubtedly comes when I am very, very late and man, those trains are long.

I go down to the tracks every now and then to walk around. There's an overpass and the cars going overhead make an interesting sound, as do the cooing pigeons who perch up in the rafters. There's a never-ending assortment of bizarre discarded goods littering both sides of the tracks. I'm guessing this area will show up often in the next 30 days - train tracks are fun in b&w. :)

(Edited to say that the horizon is not actually tilted, it just looks that way because the ground is hilly. :) )

Nice "smokiness" to the tones and the perspective elements are great. Especially like how you can make out the individual cinder blocks of the building, even though it's pretty far in the background.

I love that you caught the vastness of this landscape...great contrast on the ground too....kinda makes me want to be a bum and jump on a train and ride the rails...
instead I'll just have to stick to being a bum and not riding the rails...

Where I live I hardly ever get to see trains or railway tracks. But when I was a small child, my grandparents used to live right beside a railway. When we went to visit them on our annual holiday, my bedroom used to face right out onto the railway and I could sit at the window at night and watch the trains going by. This photo makes me feel rather nostalgic for those days.

Very nice processing, and I, too, love train tracks, trains, stations, etc. Really like Point A and Point B. Doesn't take a lot to get from one to the other, but makes an interesting statement along with the tracks, don't you think?

This is really nice, I think the only change I would suggest is a bit of dodging above the rooftop to lightin the sky a touch. Other than that I think you did a nice job. Some of the flatness I think adds to creating an 'aged' look on this image. Very nice.

Fantastic DOF here and leading lines. The tracks are so sharp! Captures a desolate and / or lonely feeling very well. Well done.

I really like the processing you did on this. There is so much depth to this photo. Train tracks look wonderful in b&w. I might have to wander up to the ones near me and see what I can get.

I love the composition - it always adds interest when you have lines that draw the eye to the vanishing point off in the horizon. The eye travels along the train tracks and passes a storage building before it vanishes off in the distance and the trees. The photo has a great small town nostalgic feel to it. The b&W is perfect for capturing this feel. Tones are just wonderful.

This has a small town feel to it. I like the leading line. It has a loneliness about it. Well done.

the leading lines take you straight into the depth of the photo - love it! and i am a big fan of how black and white can enhance the texture of clouds and sky - and i love the different degree of lightness in yours.

i like the perspective with the tracks running far to the left
the treatment on the tracks really works great - did you dodge/burn this to emphasize the rocks? if so, you did a great job. if not, I am impressed!

I love the tracks the most in this photo.....great contrast on them. Is the photo tilted a bit? Seems so, but it could just be me.

Lovely conversion. I like how the tracks and the stones in between them just glow. I keep feeling the image is tilted. I like the soft sky and the birds. Looking at this, I wonder about the horizon line right in the middle. Sometimes it works, it makes this look very peaceful. Sometimes it makes things look too peaceful.

I'd be very interested in finding out how you did this one - shot colour? Converted - how? I love the conversion.

I think this will be a great recurring subject. Train tracks just call out for black and white shots. This is very nice. The lines and angles and the color variants all work well.

Very nice indeed MK (same initials as me too) the lines pull me into a beautifull B&W image. nitpick, i dont like the gradiant in the sky but it is not such a bad thing either.. great shot and PP good start for you.
