Thanks so much to everyone for the great comments thus far - I am learning so much from this exercise!

This was also taken in the fog, and I really upped the contrast. Did I up it enough?

This is fantastic. My wife and I have travelled to Washington and Alaska, each time we picked out fishing villages for early morning shooting- and I wanted fog. Everytime, clear. My wife thinks I am nuts, we're on vacation and I want fog. Oh, well.

I love the birds in the image and the way it seems to go to nothingness right in front of the bow of the ship.

Well done - I think everything is perfect. The contrast is just enough that the image is clear, but the soft stillness of the fog is still retained. The tones are perfect.

Another terrific shot. Nice lines and use of the frame.

Only suggestion, maybe revisit with a tripod and go for a 1 second exposure (may need a ND filter). This way you can get reflections in the water without the ripples, I think it might give it just that extra edge.

Still a terrific photo. Great capture.

Wonderful fog shot with the details of the fishing pier seemingly emerging from the fog. I love the composition that captures the mood and feel of the start of the early morning for a fisherman. I can feel the chill of the air when looking upon this photo. The seagulls flapping around the dock is a really nice bonus for they add to the seascape. The tones & contrast are perfect - I distinctly see all the lovely details of the boats, the dock, the reflections in the water, and the birds in flight. Great capture.

Well my thoughts is that it is a great fog shot, think the softer contrast is pefect and really enhances the weather element (If you look at the reflection of the pier it is wonderful how it diffuses from ultra crisp to rippled blur)

IMO the seagull on the right is a bit of a distration. Not really clear enough to be a feature, but pretty much on a rule of third line which means it draws the eye away from the main subject

My first thoughts were, "wow, its so foggy, I love it." After looking at if for a bit, I'd like to see it cropped just left of center (and a tiny tiny bit from the right), taking away most of the dock. Very lovely shot as it is. Well done!

this is really beautiful -- a natural gradient! i would bump up the contrastinessâ„¢ more. it seems overall pretty gray -- but i am looking at it on an uncalibrated monitor. :)

I think the contrast is perfect for this type of shot. You do not want to lose the ghostly feel.

Wow you've just raised the bar on your 30 day shots - how will you beat this??? Very nice photo, great bw treatment. Nice composition, and foggy pier shots are always good to look at imo. Well done!

This is really very good - the bird flying to 'nowhere' is the best part of the image - adds the necessary tension and focal point to bring 'just another pier shot' into something much more.

Ethereal as the pier disappears into the fog. Love the bird!!!!

I don't know that you can up the contrast anymore without losing a lot of detail or creating artifacts. When you shoot fog, you get soft light, which is the joy of fog to begin with. That said, I'd love to see up to the first bird on the left a bit less fogged, but not sure if that's possible. I love how it fades to no discernible horizon, too.

I love the misty effect here, re the fog, and feel it works so well.
The depth of darkness fading ro a soft grey leads one into the picture so perfectly.
It give me a feeling of drifting into infinity.....Well done.....
