Very nice perspective and you picked a good high-contrast pair of subjects (fence and sand) that do well with b&w. |

Nice leading lines to the fog. Actually the contrast works well here. |

Oooh is that fog in the background? I like how the fence kind of disappears into it. Love the details of the sand in the foreground. |

I think it is fantastic that people are using the challenge to get out of their safety zone. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, in this instance it most definitely gets a huge YES from me
Great repetitive image of the fencing which is complemented by the double shot of breakwaters
Good fog capture (I always struggle on this)
Stands well as it is but I might also like to see another version where you dont see the house and the fencing goes on to the vanishing point (on this shot you can just make out a small black rectangular object in the far distance)
Splendid isolation |

on a windy day, i would love to sling beach towel over the slats for protection from the cold, right back in one of the corners wishing it wasnt so damn cold so i could swim in the ocean |

the fence has its own wave and pulse, from different angles becoming different things. you used this angle to create the illusion of wide border.
sand, ocean, fence, weeds are all pulsing madly. you found a sedate, controlled angle to rein them in a bit. controlled chaos... disappearing into light. count me in. |

I really like the repeating patterns here. You have a good eye for composition. You know me though, I am a stickler for people. Put a person (or a bird in your case) in that bottom left third and bam one in a million. :)
But as a pure landscape, I think it is wonderful. Capturing fog is always difficult and easily accomplished the mood. Stunning photo.

Wow!!! Yes. Yes. YES!!!! You can do this more now, because this turned out FANTASTIC! I love the drama of the fence leading your eyes to the nothingness in the fog. I think everything about this photo is WONDERFUL!

And I'm SO GLAD you did move out of your comfort zone. Excellent view point on that fence. I don't think I would have included the house in the back, just relied on the strength of the fence alone. |

Very nice, I think you're on the right track, but I agree with others that said to go for it - I think it could use more contrast, and a bit of diagonal to avoid the long vertical line of the fence. Great job, Jack |

Catherine - i really like this image a great deal. The repeating line from the beach fence -especially being almost completely black - really reinforces the idea that this scene goes on forever. Your choice of cropping works really well - closed in and tight - so that no unnecessary information is brought to the viewer. One thing I have seen with your B/W photos so far is a tendency not to kick up the contrast enough. B/W photos tend to have the full dynamic range from full black to full white. Muted tones can work on some images, but using the full range (pushing it a bit more than you already have in your first three entries) will create a more film like image.

I like the textures here! The fence gives you leading lines and the fog makes you really pay attention. I'm liking this. Perhaps, you could have stepped to the right a touch so that the fence was a bit more diagonal, but not much. The tones are nice, but needs a little broader black - white range. :) Looks a tad muted to me. (Might be my monitor also, lol!) It's a nice shot and the composition is cool. |

Wow. What an awsome job. Great tones. I really like how the lines lead you into the fog towards the house. You should be very proud of this shot. |
