Greetings from the Critique Club
By Inspzil
Composition - Good work with this one. Honestly this image looks about as good as it could as is. This is a very well taken photo. Good placement of the subject and I like the flowers in the background to give it a little more color. The only thing I can really think of to make the composition a little better is to have the frog facing slightly more toward us instead of slightly away. Other than that, nice shot
Technical - Only 2 things that even come to mind on this one. The focal point looks like it might have been just a little bit in front of the frog, maybe just under his left arm. With the small aperture, he's still pretty darn focused to me. But that little branch under his left arm looks spot on, so maybe he's just the tiniest bit soft since his head is not in that same plane (judging from here). The other thing that comes to mind is that the colors could have used just a little push forward on the saturation to make him pop off the page just a little more. The only thing to guard against there is that the purples don't get so loud that they overpower the subject.
Overall - I think its a fine photo. Not really much to speak of that's wrong with it. I think you got jipped a little on the score, but its by no means a bad score. Good work and good luck in the future - Bob |

Excellent DOF and detail. Focus right on the eye. Position in the photo gives a sense of tension. He is about to jump and your gonna miss the....ahhhh...ya got it! |

Cool shot, nice lighting. The "busyness" of the leaves, flowers, or whatever, tends to draw my eye away from the frog, and detracts (for me) somewhat from the terrific capture of the frog itself. |

As a biologist, this photograph interests me very much. The frog is so real, you can just 'feel' its soft, perhaps slimy skin ... but it seems like its ready to jump away from you. Be careful now. DOF is good, lighting is perfect ... I like it that you offset the frog toward the side ... to give him more room for the impending movement ... very very pleasing. Congratulations! |

Nice nature shot. Good focus, DOF. The purple flower adds some interest to the shot. |

i like this, though I'd have taken it from a more head-on angle...not straigt head on, but towards the front. the shallow depth works since you hit your focal point bang on.nice texture on the frog. Pedro |
