I was doing some shooting at a stables near my house. The local colleges are coming back to school and one of them uses this stable for boarding a lot of show jumping horses. So, I though I might catch some nice action shots.

The day was a bit gloomy and misty (the reason for the gray skies in all the photos) so most of the horses were just hanging out..not all that active. Except for this one magnificant horse.

He was in a work out yard just dancing and acting up. I have a sucky action camera (G2) so I wasn't able to get some incredible jump shots. The owner (the man in my photo) came out to calm the horse down. The horses name is Chance and is an ex-thouroughbred race horse and he gets a bit high strung.

Well, this horse is also known for head butting people if he can get close enough. I was about..oh 20 feet away watching this struggle between the man and the horse trying to head butt him.

Finally, the man said in a stern voice "Chance..enough with the head butts!!" and glared right at the horse. Thats the shot!! That horse and that guy looked at each other for about a minute..and he calmed down. :-)

Beautiful... I love the textures brought up by the black and white, and the composition here. There's something about the shape of a horse's head when you look at it directly from the front. I'm giving this 10 - lisae

Suitable title. Like the "diagonal line" created by the two eyes. Nice image, nice composition. 8 Journey

Very powerful photo! I definitely see the horse as the focal point of the photo as it is facing the camera and more of it is in frame than the human. Plus, since the person has his back to the camera and is looking at the horse it emphasizes the feeling that he too, sees the horse as being important. Being framed so that each subject (especially the horse) is only showing one eye adds to the power and feeling that this animal expresses. Good move not showing more of the horses face, I think.
Great job!

This is a marvelous shot. It works very well in B&W, but still I would like to see it also in color. The composition is very elegant and strong. I would have cropped on the left side a little bit more of the horse's face for balance with the man's face.

great photo. i only wish that there had been a bit more contrast between the fellows fleece jacket and the sky...just to help define the line, it gets lost in there. (9) ~mcmurma

What a great photo--the contrast between the two is striking but so is the relationship and trust between them--excellent. andrewm

sincerity of expressions - good

Very nice shot and 'audacious' composition and framing. Challenge : not sure, benefit of the doubt. 7 good luck

I think this is well balanced with the two subjects, the contrast balance is nice as well.
