Challenge: December Free Study (Advanced Editing I*)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: Tate Modern, London
Date: Dec 22, 2003
Aperture: f/2.1
ISO: ISO-100
Shutter: 1/40 sec
Date Uploaded: Dec 30, 2003

This shot is as it came out of the camera, no mods at all. The shot is also candid (i.e. the silhouetted figure was not staged, he has his back to us and is looking up at the 'Sun'). I recommend a visit to the Tate Modern to take this in for yourself if you get a chance.

The lack of having kicked butt is beyond me as well. When I was browsing through the challenge results I got past the first two pages and figured it must have been disqualified because I hadn't seen it yet. Keep at it, great work.

Hi...I have made several pics of this event @ the tate.... I'll get in touch with you right after the challenge. It's funny because I hesitated a lot in giving a pic of this for this challenge !

WOW!!!

Wow! This image is wonderfully complex. I can't even begin to grasp the amount of depth and detail in this picture. Very good. 9.

dramatic poses, great lighting and a wierd perspective add a lot of cool visual interest to this shot. It's actually a bit disorienting to me to look at it, but I like the effect. well done!

seen this shot sooooooooooooooooooo many times. But still like it. I personaly would have gotten closer to the man. As it is there is no feeling of scale (and it is huge in there). 7+

This is really interesting... I'm wondering, as I'm sure everyone else is what exactly you are shooting here... certainly a different subject. I'm not sure if it would have been possible... but I think a tripod might have been good to try and still the guy who is right in the "sun" but maybe he just moved too much? Interesting though.

I can't entirely figure this shot out, but it facinates me. The coloring and shadowed figures are great. 10

I saw this on CNN a while back.
Nice composition with that profiling in the artificial sun and the upside down floor. Pretty accurate color.

Careful, this might be a touched up photo.
01/02/2004 11:10:39 PM
How did you do that?

Very very cool shot. Love the warm colors and the man in the middle just jumps out . Jacko. 10

Really cool!

Crop the guy out on the left and you have a stronger shot! Regardless, as is, is very kewl. 8 -danny

Awesome shot. If you would have cropped or cloned out the bright yellow area on the bottome left corner it would be even better. Very creative and good eye!

I'm not sure what you've done, but this is excellent. Normally I'm not a fan of the heavily manipulated ones, but this is fantastic. best entry

Looks like there is a reflection near the top of the image. Might be better to remove it. This is an amazing image.

I would have cropped this picture differently. You really use the use of thirds here.

I reckon this photo will score very high; at least it is my favourite of the week. A most excellent photo with wonderful colours, strong expression and a very interesting POV (10).

Stunning shot. Where is this place? Hope you do well in the challenge I sure like it.

Very interesting shot! I like the man's shadow in the middle. Very well captured.

That I have heard is a brilliant show, and done by an Icelander :)

Nice capture.
