part of me likes the blur.. but it also makes me feel like my eyesight is going ;) interesting concept, but its a tad too much for my eyes.. 5 jenguin

Not a big fan of the focus and noise, but interesting image nonetheless.
09/15/2002 12:28:00 PM
This was a good concept, but definitely caled for a macro setting/lens. Unfortunately, the blur doesn't do anything to create interest/relevance for me. The framing is nice. 2, just-married

The soft focus on this is a great effect. It brings out those deep colours and the radial shapes of the kiwi fruit beautifully.
09/15/2002 06:12:00 AM
Too out of focus for my liking but I suppose it may work for some people. ta leat the idea was good.
09/15/2002 03:48:00 AM
The focus just dosen't work for me. 1-Martin

This reminds me of a tie-dye shirt. The colors are really cool and the shape is interesting. It even appears to have texture which you don't usually see on slices of fruit. I assume that the soft focus was intentional, and it creates an abstract quality that turns this into a very artistic shot. ~indigo997

I hope th elack of focus was intentional!
09/14/2002 08:52:00 PM
I'm not sure whether the soft focus was intentional or not, but it just doesn't appeal to me. The same photo in sharp focus would have gotten a much higher score from me.
09/14/2002 08:06:00 PM
Really out of focus. Would be a nice abstract if even a bit more clear.
09/14/2002 05:50:00 PM
Focus is really really really needed here.

Better if it was in focus!

wish it was clearer - good try :) ayme-4

An abstracty fruit :) I'm guessing you're getting hammered for this..I would have chosen a more interesting angle but otherwise it's well done. As a side note...I think it's a major misconception that "abstract" has to be out of focus...It doesn't. A perfectly focused shot without a "Kiwi" in the title would have been just as abstract since it's not easily identifiable but can be figured out/guessed.

I am not sure how to rate this, I am sure the focus was on purpose, and it lend a nice abstract quality to the image. But I am not sure just how much I like the result, definitely about average - Zeiss
09/13/2002 03:49:00 PM
I think that for a shot like this the subject has to be in focus.
09/13/2002 01:08:00 PM
The fuzziness of this gives it a nice abstract quality, but for me, personally, I think a sharper focus would ahve been more effective. karmat
09/13/2002 12:00:00 PM
I kinda like it....
09/13/2002 05:05:00 AM
Not sure if the blurry focus is deliberate but it's too soft for me.
I do like the composition though and were it in focus this would score much more highly with me.

This is such a great/artsy/shot. the lighting and color are nice, but the blur is a little more than necessary. I like a soft focus at times, I would like to see this shot at about half the blur. Good Luck - Gotcha

I feel that a macro must be focused and very clear otherwise it has no effect. Why did you take a close up, if it wasn't to get better detail?
09/11/2002 01:24:00 PM
This hurts my eyes! I guess the idea was 'abstract', but this isn't really doing it for me, sorry.
09/11/2002 11:28:00 AM
blurry, but with a strange charm...
09/11/2002 07:20:00 AM
I think you left this purposely out of focus... I really hope you left this purposely out of focus... I think with every picture, even if you are doing some sort of abstract like you are doing here you, there should always be some part that is actually in focus.
09/10/2002 11:07:00 PM
I did a kiwi too. It's a beautiful fruit. Although I am not keen on the lack of focus. I'll prolly feel like a turd for not knowing why you took it like that.
09/10/2002 09:20:00 PM
Great colors...I'd love to see it better focused. The black and green and white look so nice together.

Good luck in the challenge! Grayce...aka...Gracious

Cool abstract but may not place well.
09/10/2002 08:32:00 PM
oops?

It's out of focus, but I'm assuming it is intentional,I like it very much..good composition and use of the colors.
09/10/2002 07:12:00 PM
Nice concept, but the focus is extremely distracting.

Composition - fair
Technical Aspects - poor ; the poor focus doesn't work here
Meets Challenge - yes
Visual Impact / Originality ΓΆ€“ little/some

the blur is distracting to me. Just a personal preference, though. I'm sure there are others who will like it.

try using Macro

I liked this shot, but I would have liked to see it in focus.

Cool idea, but were you attempting some sort of soft focus effect? Why? This screams for sharp focus. Cropping seems a little close too. Did you cut out the center of the fruit? If so, why? 5 Swash

If I assume the blur was deliberate, it doesn't work for me. If I assume the blur was not deliberate, .... 3 Jak
09/09/2002 02:57:00 PM
too trippy for my liking.
09/09/2002 12:37:00 PM
nice idea of a close up of a kiwi, but too much out of focus. the eye need something in focus to be able to, well, focus on. -- gr8photos.
09/09/2002 11:31:00 AM
This would have been a nice shot if it was in focus.
09/09/2002 06:29:00 AM
I'm not sure if i understand this photo or not... Were you going for a macro or some abstract view of a kiwi fruit, or both? I think the lack of focus doesn't work well for me in this shot. I am not sure how to critique this without understanding the intention... - jmsetzler
09/09/2002 01:51:00 AM
very cool.

I guess the blur was intentional, but it actually is very hard on my eyes.
