I love the concept, the reflection and chips in dish are destroying your 'negative space' though

liver was much worse! I like the way you composed this photo, although in the top middle of the photo there's something that is distracting. What is that?

Don't know what exactly it is, but if you meant for the plate to focus attention on them, you succeeded. karmat

Are those licorice jelly beans? Probably not. This is very good.

The lighting is a little drab, but nice interplay between object, and nice composition.

like the idea. like the humor. why not have a more tight shot with just the beans and the plate as a background?

some more color to this photo would have been nice

Definetly meets the challenge, but could use a little more interest. Maybe by recomposing so that only part of the bowl shows. The chips add nothing to the image and the glare is distracting. I hope my comments help. That's my intention.Good luck in the challenge...it's a tough one! Grayce aka Gracious

Are those black jellybeans?
09/16/2002 03:46:00 PM
Are those the black jelly beans? my favorite!! I think I would have liked this if the "negative space" took up the entire rest of the photo. As it is, you kind of have 2 negative spaces. Using the just the beans as the subject, the plate could be the neg. space. If you included the plate as the subject, then the table would be the neg. space. I do understand that you meant the beans as the subject and the plate as the neg space. But then you have this 3rd space that really has no purpose. I hope that makes sense. Overall, I think you did a good job. The lighting is ok, the angle is ok, and the focus is also ok. Good luck in the challenge. 5 ~Hbunch7187~

Maybe a bit too much glare from the lights. Still it was a creative shot. Good luck. Score 6 Justine

I like the idea. The colors are so bland, however, that maybe if converted to black and white it would have been more eye catching.

your title is a mystery....... do kids actually have nightmares of black jelly beans? the symmetry of the oval bowl framed by the edges of the picture and the shadows make for an interesting composition. seven.

love the title

Cute title. Almost great techniocally. A tad underexposed, so the beans lose some detail. Very creative thinking.

very unique idea!

You better be plugging your nose and get a big glass of water to finish those. Good idea. 6
