 Another fun idea, and hopefully you will also all enjoy it, as much as I did doing it.

I went out and brought some dark Liquorice strips, along with packets of brightly colored Liquorice All Sorts, to do this Candy Challenge.

I divided my white square canvas board, into four squares with the liquorice strips, and then added the differant colored striped all sorts, into checkered patterns.

Two white toned versions opposite each other, and another two brighter colored versions in the other opposite squares. I finished with another row of dark liqourice strips around the edge as a border.

A thin black border was added to complete this Candy image. Enjoy.....

By the way, I don't even like liquorice, and could smell it on my hands for days.....

Wow, this is a very interesting composition of candy confections. First off that captures and holds the eye's attention is the colors and the patterns. The colors and bold and vibrant. The arrangement of the colors and their stripes and shapes creates a compositional piece that is both abstract study in shapes and psychedelic. You effectively arranged the colors and patterns of the candy into attention catching composition. And it is not just the patterns of the 4 squares but I noticed you paid specific attention to matching the orientation of the stripes of each side of the squares to create symmetry. On my monitor I can barely see the licorice borders. I am on the fence with whether it would be a good thing for the texture of the twisted patterns on the licorice might clash with the straight edge patterns that is the majority of the composition. Yet, it might add an interesting twist (no pun intended what so ever) to add yet another pattern to the mix.

The effort you put into this is staggering - hopefully you had as much fun eating the finished product as you did putting it all together. :) Delightful abstract, completely deserving of its placement in the top 20.

a lot of abstract energy, but I also like that it reveals its secret. In other words, if you look at it for more than a second you can tell what it really is. One of my faves of the challenge.

Sherpet I presume. Hmmmm. Rectangles within squares within squares within a square. You do like squares. It's almost dizzying to look at, like one of those optical illusions.
