LOL fooled me. Judi was the only one I recognized, with all of her exposure here, but I thought with the 5 photographers I may have picked the wrong one. Great shot. I'm jealous of all the great equipment. |

Awesome. The lighting and poses are great. It seems a tad soft would be my only gripe. |

I like the pentagon shape made by the heads. Focus is good enough at all depths, and Judi's red hair really pops out to complement all the pink. |

Ah well Judi, here I am at last :)
Thats quite a collection of equipment there.
Ok first off, thank god you nailed the definition of portrait, far too many snapshots and candids in this challenge. So, I am going to explain what I like and (unfortunately) what I do not like.
Lets start with the "do not likes" first, the reason being there are not that many of them. THe biggest faux-pas here is the lighting, its not uniform enough across all the models, the young girls face at the front is quite shadowed in this shot and as we go up towards the back the lighting gets brighter. THats about it for the bad stuff, quite painless eh?
OK, the square crop and the general composition are very nice, I love square crops, they are defintely very 2007 in the Simms household. The pose is great, and by that I mean it oozes fun and light-heartedness. You are all arranged in a pleasing manner and I'd imagine this shot would look far better if we could have 720 pixels each way. As mentioned before this is actually a portrait, which in a portrait challenge is a good thing. As always you will get marked down by the anti-Judi brigade of which there are only a few bitter members. Other than that its a good solid entry, not your best by a long way, but pleasing and fun and nails all the technicals (except that lighting at the front). I predict a solid finish in the top 15, maybe the top 10.

Great shot. I like the additude of the youngest in the middle. It looks like she saying, "Look out, I have a 5D and know how to use it."
Good luck. |

I like this shot a lot. The only negative thing is that the lack of sharpness makes the whole scene to appear out of focus. |

I realy like the idea and the general setup. I like the execution less though. The image is not very sharp and several details of the positioning of the group are not very good imo. For instance, the lady with the glasses blocks my sight on the lady with the white shirt, forcing her to lift her arm in order to get her camera in the picture. (6) |

There is one sure fire way to improve on this shot. It would make this an all time high score on this site never to be beaten ever. I'm sure that you know that deep, DEEP down in your heart if you had used NIKON, yes that's right NIKON you would have an image that would be untouchable, an image that would stand the test of time.
That being said, you will do fine just the same, I mean how can you go wrong with the five BEAUTIFUL young ladies you have here. You can't that's all there is to it you can't. (nikon,NIKON,nikon.....) |

Hi Judi. You've got friends (and daughter) with some good horsepower there. Good composition and background. On the thumbnail I thought it was a remake of the Charlie's Angel's poster. |

Judi, you grabbed my attention... then you lost it. You seem to be the only one in good light (though uplighted) & all the rest suffer. A reflector right under the camera could have put some light in the faces in front. Its a good idea, just not so well organized. |
