I'm sure an intriguing concept that's currently niggling away at the outer edges of my ignorant mind... However, until I work out if it's meant to be a pencil or not, I've got to say that a) the lighting isn't too good here; b) the downward angle probably wasn't the best idea, and; c) perhaps this set up may have been better suited on a flat/single coloured background, rather than a carpeted/textured floor.

eta: Right, I think I've worked it out... the lead is lubricating the carriage wheel, kinda like the pencil is meant to be an oil pump? Can't believe it's taken me this long. Warned ya I was ignorant! ;)

its a (poor) picture of an ornament, taken from a uninspiring angle, with rather poor lighting.. 3

For me, had the background been dirt, it would be more effective. I like your idea behind it though.

lighting a rather flat. i might have changed the position of the pencil and called it stick in my wheel
