 My spousal unit and I have been on vacation in Australia. While visiting some friends, they took us to the Cleland Wildlife Park in the Adelaide Hills. I was walking though the park and saw this mother with feet sticking out of her pouch. I waited a good 30 minutes for the Joey to pop his little head out so I could grab a shot.

Lighting was less than ideal and I am afraid that is going to hamper the score. But I recently read an article where the guys asked, "Sure you can take great photos at Sunrise and Sunset, but what can you do the ohter 14 hours of the day?"

With that in mind I have been snapping pictures like mad while on vacation and have not been relying solely on the Golden Hours.

Unfortunately due to the harsh lighting I imagine this will struggle to break the 5.6XXX barrier. That is a shame because it truley was a wonderful experience to see these beautiful animals and capture a shot of a young Joey like this.

Awww, sweet! Love the tight crop, and I really love the expression on the little tike's face, like "I ain't goin' out there mom!" And then there's Mom's stance which says "nobody touches my kid!!" Guess I read a lot into this... a sign of a fantastic image!

man .. this is so excellent . should'v done heaps better .. like on the first page .. of course i'm slightly biased coz i do like kangaroos .. wonderful the way you've caught that little joey looking so squashed and funny with his head poking out'v the pouch .. BRILLIANT .. :)

A good animal shot, and it certainly meets the challenge, but I'm not personally finding it has much appeal to me.

Seems out of balance to me. A little more cropping on the left, a little less on the right. Not that centering is a good idea, because then you lose the angles, but things just feel wonky to me.

This could be a great classic of a shot. The mother's arm is a bit in the way though. This was a case of just take loads of shots and hope one was OK.
