A tale of love, anger and revenge. I hope that the picture (together with the title) manages to tell the story. People seem to have different interpretations of the scene. The story I wanted to tell was approximately:

1. Girl in red has relationship with guy.
2. Guy ends relationship and switches to a new girlfriend.
3. Girl in red takes revenge by damaging guy's car.
4. Satisfied with herself, she sits down and enjoys the moment.
5. Guy with new girlfriend (both totally in love) went for a romantic little walk with her.
6. As they return to his car, they realize what the former girlfriend was up to.
7. There's some yelling, insults and general mayhem.

The picture was supposed to show the moment a split second before the new couple sees the former girlfriend and freaks out...

It might have been better with a bigger hammer, a sledgehammer for example. The one we used is a bit tiny in comparison to the impressive damage, which is funny in some way...

I was afraid that some people might not like the smoking and I was probably right... However, we felt that it fits the character of the girl in red pretty well. A girl who would dress like this and damage her ex-boyfriend's car in an act of revenge would probably also sit there like this afterwards - and smoke.

Processing:
conversion from raw
HDR tonemapping in Photomatix to increase dynamic range
some burning, color adjustments and clone stamping to improve details
selective blur
contrast increase
crop
resize
sharpen

Many thanks to Sarah, Vanessa and Nick for participating and taking their roles very seriously. ;-)

A sledge and the title "Hell Hath No Fury..." - other than that, this kicks! Great job.

Everyone is going to take a different interpretation on this kind of shot due to their own experiences. I kinda see this one as the mistress who's man wouldn't leave his wife. So the story is up to the viewer to tell. Thats ok.
I agree the hammer is a bit puny for the job. A sledge would have been a lot better. or the front end of another car... Everything else in the image setup is great. Congrats on a great placement!

lol, this looks like a complete story in one frame. So full of drama, revenge, glamour and violence. great setup and a wonderful justice to the theme. 10

A story indeed. Somehow, I think the roles are reversed here however. I would imagine the guy walking down the street with a girl in a low cut shirt and knee high boots (ie, the fling) and the more conservatively sundress clad wife sitting on his smashed car with a hammer. Then again, I may be thinking of an entirely different story. But that aside, the composition and lighting are both very good. The puff of smoke is just icing on the cake.

Great story, nice capture. I would have liked to see the woman in red with a bigger hammer...would have carried the story a little better.

Definitely story, like how she did that much damage with a hammer. :)

I like this image as it does tell a story, but I'm not sure I like all the blurring. Regardless, I gave this image an 8.

He doesn't have the look of regret on his face. He looks pleased with himself. I understand him and think this photo is telling. The bashing felt good to her maybe, but he doesn't care anymore because he is finally in love.

How sweet.
